I was born and raised in Costa Rica. From an early age, my mom instilled in me the importance of being in connection with the natural world. We were often outside: communing with nature, talking to plants, and hugging the trees at the park. By divine grace, this connection later led me to Ayurveda.
As I moved into adulthood and progressed in my professional career, I adopted a lifestyle that pulled me away from the rhythms of nature toward a state of dis-ease. I became a habitual coffee drinker, maintained a regular high-impact exercise routine, and chose a fast-paced work environment. I was rushing through life without living it. Eventually, I reached a state of extreme fatigue. Self-judgment and repetitive negative thoughts became normal. I experienced anxiety, heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, sleep apnea, and severe menstrual symptoms. I continued to gravitate toward activities that brought those same qualities into my life.
Every layer of my being was telling me to pause. After some time, I finally listened to the Goddess of my heart and took a break from my career. I rested and reassessed my focus in life. During my Yoga teacher training, I was introduced to Ayurveda and was immediately drawn to it; it felt familiar. I found Hale Pule while searching for Ayurveda schools, and Myraji’s genuine energy made it easy for me to decide where to study.
I am forever grateful to the Divine for guiding me back to sraddha, for the sages who have preserved and passed on this sacred wisdom, and to Myraji, whose devotion to her divine path helped guide me back to mine.
