I came to Ayurveda while searching for something that would spark joy in my life — something I could truly be passionate about. Before discovering Ayurveda, I was drawn to many things at once — yoga, meditation, mastering English, sustainable living, vegetarianism, organic food, living with nature, environmental issues and so on. Yet, I didn’t know how these interests fit together or how to turn them into a meaningful path.
When I encountered Ayurveda, I immediately knew it encompassed everything I was interested in. I began dreaming of going to India to study it there. However, with the COVID pandemic, that plan was no longer possible. Even so, my desire to learn Ayurveda didn’t fade. I started searching online and eventually discovered Hale Pule, which offered training even in Japanese — my native language.
Soon after, I read Myra’s book “Freedom in Your Relationship with Food” and I fell in love with her teachings and her words. That was the moment I decided to join the Ayurveda Health Counselor Training, which I now feel was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
As I deepened my studies, my connection to Ayurveda grew stronger. And I was also fortunate to begin working with Hale Pule in my current role. It truly feels like a dream job — being able to contribute to sharing the wisdom of Ayurveda in my home country, Japan, while communicating in English with a wonderful team from all over the world. All the interests I once had have now come all together in this work.
